How to save my failing YouTube?

I'm a high school jr who's very busy with extracurriculars, exams, etc but have been running an art yt channel for several years. I mainly post shorts bc of busy schedule so I've gained a large following bc of that, but when I post vids, they usually flop. Pls share any advice on how to improve my vids/channel, I'm still unfamiliar with how the YT (video) algorithm works
