Should I be allowed to get a better phone?

I am 15 (turning 16 in just over a month) and a sophomore in high school. I have a pinwheel genesis 1 and have had it since Jan 2025, which is just about a yr ago. I barely ever go on my phone, but I do have a kindle fire that I use. I just feel as though they are too controlling with phones. I literally need to be able to be able to text a bunch of people for my high schools Key Club (I am the social media manager) and I also need to be in group chats for Girls camp, since I'll be one of the Youth Camp Leaders and we just started planning this years camp.

The phone resets all the time and it looks so damn stupid. I need to be able to post on Instagram for my Key club position and I can't bc of this stupid thing. My phone has barely any storage and my mom takes 10,000 yrs to accept contacts. Hell, I can't even pick the names for my contacts. I'm planning on taking drivers ed soon, so getting a real phone would be very useful.

One of my friends who has very strict parents just got an iPhone for her 16th, so why can't I? I have stuff I need to do. I can't text any of my church leaders since I have to be in a group chat with them and my parents, so I can never contact my young women leaders.

My mom literally just allowed me to have my phone on until 9pm like five days ago. It used to turn off at 8pm. And she just allowed me to have a "child-managed" phone # list but like she doesn't even trust me for a completely free choice for numbers. And she literally went through my friends messages on a group chat I don't even have access to. (I'm apart of the chat, but I can't look at it since I don't have all the numbers approved).

The phone won't let me chat in group chats and I need group chats so bad.
