Somatic Tinnitus with very specific head movements
I have low-level Constant Tinnitus that developed all of the sudden 3 years ago on a cross-country drive passing through the Nevada desert (probably not related to aliens, ha!)
It does not bother me much as it is relatively quiet (thank goodness!). The closest analog is cicada calls
I also have Somatic Tinnitus. If I perform any of the following movements my constant tinnitus becomes 10x louder (same frequency and general sound, just louder) but ONLY IN MY RIGHT EAR!
- Press on the skin just to the front through above my right ear
- Turn my head to the right
- Tilt my head to the left
I find it hard to believe the Somatic Tinnitus is purely a brain effect if I can change the volume significantly with these very specific movements (not opening/closing jaw curiously)! I do many daily exercises I have received from doctors & PT but nothing changes this effect at all
I suspect a connection with my right TMJ but so far doctors and PT have not been able to figure it out
Anyone here have some advice or suggestions?
Thanks!
