Troll enemies appear often in Skylanders as pilots of big robots, and it made me ask the question, “What if one of these guys went rogue and joined the Skylanders?” So I decided to make a troll who pilots a mech suit.

I noticed the troll mech enemies usually are made of brown, bronze, and grey elements (see references above) so I chose a similar color scheme for the mech suit. Unfortunately, none of the imaginator parts have the same non-glossy metal texture as the enemies, but I’m still pretty happy with how it looks. The big proportions and all the spikes make for an imposing figure and inspired Drill Big (which is a pun on drill bit)‘s name.

One thing I worry about with this character is that he might look a bit too much like a really buff guy in a suit of armor. I think the size difference between the smallest head and the biggest body isn’t enough to fully sell the mech suit aesthetic—hopefully the steampunk backpack makes the upper body feel extra large.

**Abilities:**
Primary attack: bruiser
Secret technique: wave fist
Elemental power: tactical turrets

Drill Big plays primarily by using his turrets to push enemies away and creating windows to charge up his wave fist and shoot enemies from afar, with his punches only being used as a finisher or last resort. It has high single-target DPS but isn’t a super reliable set of abilities; however, it does feel slow and powerful and heavy and like how a power suit would fight. I’ll probably make other tech brawlers in the future because I think the tech and brawler combination has a lot of synergies in their abilities—both aesthetically and in terms of utility.
