Free automatic offline pages using Cloudflare Workers when your origin goes down
Hey all — I built into my uptime monitoring a feature I'm pretty proud of. It's a Cloudflare integration that automatically activates a custom (and branded if wanted) offline page, that utilizes Cloudflare Workers and routes. You can do this on your own manually or with your own scripts. I just think the idea of using Cloudflare Workers with the free tier/usage is pretty cool and wanted to share. So free or paying users can utilize this instead of cloud flares default down page.
How it works:
Uptime checks run every minute from multiple locations to eliminate false positives
When downtime is confirmed, a Worker is deployed to your zone via API that intercepts requests and serves an offline page
When the site recovers, the worker and route are automatically removed — normal traffic resumes
The nice thing is Workers on the free tier give you 100k requests/day which is more than enough to serve an offline page during downtime. So it costs nothing.
It's somewhat self promotion but I had no one to share with ha, sorry if it needs to be removed!
