Hybrid vs thin gauge poly

I’m getting to the point where I’m starting to think about switching to poly for durability. I want to start with a softer setup and I’m wondering how a hybrid would compare to full bed 17, 18, or even 19 or 20 gauge poly. Hybrid I would probably use 16ga OGSM that I’ve been playing for a cross and 17 or 18 ga poly for mains. Or 16 if that would make more sense. I really don’t know and I haven’t seen anyone talk about how these setups would compare in terms of stiffness and durability. Thanks all.
