Hey all,

I’ve been building a local-first AI agent project and finally got it to a point where it feels worth showing to other people. Please tell me about your opinion. It‘s Apache 2.0 - so just feel totally free using it.

The idea was pretty simple: I wanted something that could run mostly on my own machine, work with local models via Ollama, and still handle things like memory, document analysis, and a knowledge/notes workflow without defaulting to a cloud-only setup.

It’s called Cognithor. I know there are already a lot of agent projects out there, so I’m not posting this as some big launch. I mostly want to know whether this feels useful beyond my own setup, or whether I’ve just built something over-engineered for myself.

I’ll put the repo in the comments for anyone who wants to take a look. I recommend Telegram as communication channel. Important: you will need a telegram ID and set up a bot (done within 3 Minutes).

The main feedback I’d really appreciate:

Does the local-first angle actually matter to you?

What feels genuinely useful, and what feels unnecessary?

Is there anything in the setup/docs that feels confusing right away?

Happy to hear blunt feedback.

Built a local-first AI agent for my own setup — curious if this seems useful or just over-engineered
