Shopping for jeans in my own closet! I have pants that fit!!!
8 years ago I'd lost 85lbs and went from 223 to 136 on keto, from a size 18 to a 6. During the process, I'd used poshmark to size down - and I'd gotten rid of all those larger sizes. After some life events and menopause, I started to gain the weight back, and of course had no old clothes. The weight slowly piled back on, and I guess I tried to find clothes along the way to fill the void. As things didn't fit they'd go into stacks in the closet, back of the bathroom cupboard, on top of my dresser. I wasn't tracking what size I was when I got them. And then NOTHING fit, so I got myself 1 pair that fit.
Right before I started this journey 11/19/25, I went to a wedding in another state and when I got there, I had packed the wrong jeans. The ONE PAIR THAT FIT was at home. The pair that came with me were the kind that I could get on, but then I could barely sit or breath. I had on a shirt that I hid that I undid the button. I was miserable. I was humiliated.
I have since lost about 20 lbs.
And, today I dragged every pair I could find out into the light. Sorted them by size. Carefully bagged the smaller sizes (with hopeful thoughts) into organized stacks, 6/8/10. The size 14 and up stuff went into the bathroom with me and I tried everything on. It turns out I have a handful of jeans, capris, and shorts, THAT FIT. I have a large basket of things that are just a shade too snug, and those are oganized into a spot where I can dig into them hopefully in the next couple weeks. And a small pile of things that are too big!
Today we had a surprise heat wave, and I am wearing shorts I didn't know that I had that fit. The jeans that barely fit that i'd taken on the trip, well, those have been a pair i've been wearing lately that are on the baggy side. Comfy, but not the best.
