Took the Teas on a whim
Ok so hear me out. I just took the Teas 4 hours ago. I did not study at all. Full transparency, my husband and sister in law are both in health related concentrations, and have been studying for the Teas and were getting overwhelmed with what to study, expect, and just how the test would be. I am a registered respiratory therapist of 20+ years, and I got my bachelor's degree over 20 years ago. So I went in blind. So maybe this will help
Math
Median, mode, range, mean
Pick the easiest ones first, mode and range and eliminate your answers. i had a question with over 90 numbers you can not write them down, (i saw someone post it took them 10 minutes to do one mode problem). Fiind the middle position and look at where the numbers will fall.
Areas, volumes, circumference, perimeter-Memorize your formulas and plug and chug don't forget the cylinder
Arrange number smallest to largest-Make everything a decimal
Rate of change
Know how to read a recipe-Serving size (if a serving size is 2 tablespoons and its 80 calories, then how much is 1 tablespoon, and then convert to milliters)
****all conversions were given to me except the ones that are converting within the metric system, like centimeters to meters****
Percentages to decimals
Percentage off...i.e, you bought a coat for 260 that is 20% off what is your pretax price, and be careful and read the question. Make sure you are answering what they ask for do they want the discount amount, or the discounted price.
Solve for x, PEMDAS, ratios
know how to read a bar graph and scatter plot and when it is best to use it.
Ratios... if a have a container with a ratio of items, identify how much would be in the given solution. i.e.. ration 4:1 and the solution is 30 ml. Each part is 6ml-4:1 equals 5, 30 divided by 5 is 6 so each part is 6 ( i hope that makes since) Sorry Math comes easy to me so it can be hard to explain.
Science
DNA, RNA base pairs replacing A,C,G,Ts all that jazz
respiratory system
renal system
photosynethesis
balancing chemical reactions
ph-what is considered acidic and basic
respiratory and cardiovascular system ( 4?s for me valves, oxygenated blood vs dexoygenated blood)
solute vs solvent
water and sodium's chemical relationship
nephron filtration
how/when/why about glucose levels, how your body regulates
hormones-when and where they come from and what they do
Experimental design-control groups, exploring alternative explanations, how to make the experiment better. My husband says Nurse Cheung and Tyler.
Reading
Comprehension
Research skills-what to type in to look up a topic online
spelling was easy and know when to use their vs there or sight vs site.
Honestly, I pray everyone gets it first, some of the passages are long, but reading the question before reading the passage the first time really helped.
Fractions-mixed and regular add, multiply and divide.
English & Grammar
correct use of comma, semicolon, colon
Know when to paraphrase and cite
Steps of the writing process
when to use parenthesis
all the danglings
affect vs effect when to use it (i still don't know)
Know when to use and index, table of contents, glossary
I do not if this made it easier or harder, and I know the test was random. But I must say it does not present as daunting (at least my version) as is often presented on some of the post. I do not know how anyone could study less that 6 weeks, and truly be able to do well. Now I know what you are saying, because when I called my husband and told him my results, he said well you know this stuff. I used process of elimination for a lot of the questions. DO NOT spend a lot of time on one question, flag it and go back. If you are taking it proctored, find out before hand how to take the break after the math section. Take the test twice. I thing anxiety and the weight of the test really hampers some people. I had to check myself twice, and it has no weight on my future. So to be the support my family needs I went back a reviewed some of Tyler's, Brandon's, Nurse Cheung's, and Future RNs stuff. I would start with Nurse Cheung and then progress to the other 3. Tyler is great for Science, and I really can appreciate what Brandon does looking back. Use AI to generate quizzes on topics. Good luck, and to all my future healthcare workers........ We need you, Welcome to the family, and you can do it!!!!!!!
