Are there known differences in products regionally (Mac & Cheese)?

Something that has recently baffled me since my move from Southern California to the midwest was the drop in quality in the Mac & Cheese at TJ's. At home it's a staple frozen meal, and quite honestly, the best frozen Mac & Cheese I've ever had. However, when buying some at my new store in the midwest, the quality is noticeably worse. There is way less cheese, and the cheese is grainier. It's a huge drop in quality and I only buy it when I'm visiting home now.

I haven't noticed any drops in quality for similar products, but I'm curious if this is a known phenomenon? Do they have different distributors across regions for the same product? Does anyone have a similar story with another product?
