I honestly hope tech salaries crash so the money hungry people finally leave our profession alone.

Software engineering used to be a craft for people who actually cared about building things, but it’s been gutted by a plague of mercenaries who don’t even like computers. I am so sick of seeing people pivot into tech just because they saw a TikTok about "day in the life" free lattes and 200k starting salaries. You’ve turned a respected discipline into a crowded gold mine, pushing out actual engineers who would do this job even if it paid half of what it does now. You don’t care about architecture or the craft you just care about the vesting schedule and the remote-work lifestyle. That’s why I’m actually rooting for the market to start tanking. We need a massive salary correction to weed out the money chasers and the career-switchers who crawled out of finance or sales just to chase a paycheck they don’t deserve. If salaries halved tomorrow, the real engineers would stay because we love the work, while the rest of you would vanish overnight to find another industry to ruin with your greed. Tech was better when it was just for the nerds who cared. please, let the bubble finally pop so we can have our profession back.
