How do I study for legal

TLDR: What legal content do i need to memorise and what should i use my logic for?

So in year 10 I did law as an elective and had to write an essay and the pros/cons of Jurys. I also did philosophy as an elective had to write another essay at the same time.

I thought I could just combine the 2 and write about the pros and cons of the jury from a philosophical standpoint.

Anyway the essay did great in philosophy but it absolutely tanked in law. my legal teacher called it a bunch of conspiracy theories from america lol.

Anyway then in year 11 i basically decided i was going to treat law like a maths subject. i memorised pretty much all the content (definitions, strengths and weaknesses ext..) and did really well.

obviously im starting to realise that this won’t be an affective strategy for year 12 though because there is just too much content to memorise, and even if it could it would not be a productive use of my time.

I need help finding a balance between what content i should memorise and what i should rely and my logic and critical thinking skills for.

To all the past legal studies who got a 40+ ss, what did you memorise and what did you just use your logic for?

what definitions do i need to know?

do i memorise all the strengths and weaknesses?

how much is legal terminology actually important?

pls help
