Eastern Roman enthusiasts being against hellenism

I dont understand why many Eastern Roman enthusiasts are so against ancient greek history, culture and traditions even though the Rome and the Roman polity is deeply rooted in hellenic traditions, myths and culture, I've seen many online post about how hellenism dystroyed Eastern Roman identity and culture, but I personally think that it's actually deeply rooted in ancient hellenic identity so much so that greek goddesses nike and tyche became patron protectors of constantinople even up to the middle ages and the famous acritic cycles are also heavily inspired by the tales of ancient greek tales of gods, etc
