State Tax questions

I am getting conflicted information. I am buying (financing) a used car in IL, but registering it where I am moving (which happens to be a tax free state). I have a lease and proof of residence letter from the city clerk. I have not changed my drivers license yet. Can anyone confirm that I won’t pay sales tax since I am registering it in a tax free state. Are there any other things I need to be aware of?
