Boot/Ski recommendation for extremely tall person?
Hello!
I’m close to 7 feet tall and about 250 pounds, skiing mostly West Coast resorts (located SoCal), crud/groomers, at an intermediate to advanced level. My boot size is around 31.5-32 with a wide foot, which makes demoing difficult. Recently at Mammoth I rode a 30.5 K2 BFC 120 HV, which worked fine, but I’d still like to try a true 31.5 to compare comfort and stability.
I ran into a similar issue with skis. I demoed the Stöckli Stormrider 102 in a 191, but they didn’t have a 194 that was recommended for my height.
I’m planning to buy boots and skis soon, but I haven’t been able to demo the larger sizes I was recommended. Given my size and ability, if I can’t find 31.5 boots or 194 skis to try, should I stick with the 30.5 boots and 191 skis and continue trying those out? My hesitation is that I don’t want to settle for discomfort in a 30.5 boot or give up stability on a 191 ski if a 31.5 boot or 194 ski would ultimately be a better fit for my size.
I’ll be in Vail in mid/at the end of March and plan to try again to look for boots/skis to demo, but I’m unsure on how to move forward with a plan to purchase the right boots/skis.
Any advice? What would you do in my situation? Any boots/skis you would recommend I should look for?
