It was almost 3:00 AM when I decided to go outside because I couldn’t sleep due to the ongoing situation in Dubai. I was also hungry and honestly just feeling bored at home. The loud sounds I was hearing from inside my house were making me feel like I was going crazy.

The loud noises started yesterday around 5:00 PM and have continued until now. They were missiles being intercepted by the government, followed by the loud sound of jets flying over the roof. In over 10 years of living in Dubai, this is the first time I have experienced something like this.

My mom and my sister were really worried about me going outside because debris might fall from the sky. But it’s me — I sometimes break the rules. I still went out and roamed around my area.

And you know what amazed me? The confidence of the people living in Dubai.

While driving, I was scanning left and right, and I saw many people laughing, talking, drinking chai, and walking casually. No one was running or rushing, even though they could hear the loud sounds. If you ask me why, I believe it’s because the government gives strong assurance that everything is under control and that everyone is safe. They encourage people not to panic — because panic does not help and only creates more fear.

When I was at home, I was panicking because it is really nerve-wracking to hear loud missile interceptions in the sky near your home, along with jets flying overhead. That’s why I decided to go out and check the situation myself.

I drove for about an hour, back and forth from Al Barsha to Bur Dubai, and saw many police cars and other government authorities on the road. Despite that, you don’t feel fear — you actually feel safe.

The main point of this post is to appreciate what the leaders of the United Arab Emirates are doing to protect its citizens, residents, and visitors. We are all together here, and we all want a peaceful community.

We want a better world. I pray that all of this will stop as soon as possible and that a good solution will come out of the regional conflict we are experiencing right now.

There is no certainty in life, but at least we are confident that our second home, which we call the UAE, is giving us assurance that everything is under control and there is no need to panic.

God bless the UAE.

God bless its leaders and its people.

God bless the world.

Good night for now.
