Highly interconnected series of standalones with ++build up throughout for last couple?
I just did a re-read of the Winston Brothers series by Penny Reid and forgot how much I live for the build up to the last book {Beard Necessities by Penny Reid). There is so much tension by the end, and because the series in soooo interconnected, we see breadcrumbs and glances and interactions of the last couple in the series all the way through. Even the other books in the series are so well integrated, we know all the characters before their book arrives. Two of the books actually happen at the same time, so we get to see the exact same timeline of events and interactions from the different characters. It just felt really well planned and executed. (As a side note, I feel this series would make an amazing TV adaptation).
I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a series that is similarly well planned out and builds up tension to the last couple to the point that you cannot stand not knowing their story yet/see them together?
I've read all Elsie Silver's which are interconnected and I love, but sometimes have inconsistencies, don't really have that build up to the last couple. Juliette Cross' Stay a Spell series had this, but not to the extent of what I'm looking for.
I'd love to hear any recommendations if anyone has read something similar!
