Did you like RE9's story?

SpoilerGeneral

Just to make it clear here before yall start hating on me. I think the game was great, solid 8/10 for me. Finished my first playthrough yesterday and had a day to think about how I really felt about the game. I think the game is gorgeous and gameplay wise I have no real criticisms. I wish the game was longer but RE games are usually pretty short so I'm not too bugged about it.

However I think the story was kinda disappointing to me. It was never explained how Leon and Sherry got infected other than that it was T-virus (correct me if I missed something), so it feels a like a convenient plot device. Victor was interesting at first but I think the whole end section was kinda meh, even during the final fight I was like "There's no way this is the end of the game".

However my biggest gripe was with Zeno. I love Albert Wesker, so them teasing this dripped out guy with slicked back hair, sunglasses AND Wesker's powers, only for him to turn out to be some random guy from The Connections and then die to Victor was so underwhelming. I know Wesker died in RE5 but cmon just bring him back instead of this clone that we never get to fight anyway.

Imagine instead of the story we got, it went like this instead; Zeno was ACTUALLY Wesker. Leon succumbs to his infections and dies (not really) at the yellow door. After Grace releases Elpis, Victor shows up and she has to fight him as her final boss fight while Wesker is conveniently busy doing something with Elpis. After beating Victor, Wesker is like "how did Victor not kill you" and then tries to kill Grace and then BAM, Leon shows up with Wesker's powers (just the super human speed and strength, no body horror) and saves Grace, then him and Wesker have a super human final boss fight to end the game.

Yea there are a lot of holes and gaps but I think it would've been much cooler than just fighting another nemesis and having Zeno be basically pointless. Let me know your thoughts!
