Describing a scream

Im currently writing a fic and while I was writing I ran out of Ideas to describe a scream. For more context this is the line : " There was suddenly a scream coming from nearby cutting my trail of thoughts. I perked up my ears again to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, and there it was again. A scream. Raw " and then I stopped.

Any tips ??
