Series rec: The Space Between by amberlightfic

I’m not someone who typically reads a lot of angst (I know there are some really well-regarded ‘no happy ending’ fics out there, and I just can’t). This series, about Shane and Ilya having to be apart for long chunks of time, is about as angsty as I can cope with. It really hurts to see them miss each other, but there’s so much growth and depth of character going through the series. The writing is so good. These stories hollow out your heart but they are beautiful.
