Has anyone ever heard of a legit effort to make a movie about The Godfather’s character, Tom Hagen, played by Robert Duvall?

(I admit, I have not read the books, so if this is answered in the book please let me know, but also if this post is still worth engaging with, please do!)

Has anyone ever heard of a legit effort to make a movie about Tom Hagen's backstory and his eventual fall? I've always felt like he was the most underrated part of the Corleone saga.

If there isnt a project like that in the works what do you think would be a cool storyline for it and who would you cast as a younger Robert Duvall?

I’m specifically curious about how he actually became Vitos most trusted guy especially since he wasnt Italian. Also how do you think he really felt about being the “adopted son” who knew he would never inherit the family business?

I wonder if a movie that centers Hagen how would give him a better ending. He really got done dirty by not being in the third movie and he deserves a way more just conclusion to his story than just a throwaway line.

(What prompted this post was the passing of Duvall, which inspired me to to watch the Godfather and The Godfather Part II. I think a movie about Hagen would be interesting)
