There would probably be a lot more tank players post 5v5 if they just reworked Ana when they had the chance
Ana not getting any changes to Sleep Dart or Anti Nade going into 5v5, especially when they made an effort to reduce the amount of hard CC on non-tanks by removing Brig's stun, moving Doomfist to the tank role, and removing Cassidy's Flashbang stun, was the single biggest example of fan favorite privilege ever in this game's history. They went so far with this to the point where they made Kiriko, another disaster hero, instead of even thinking to tweak how oppressive sleep dart and anti nade were on tanks.
I understand that Sleep Dart and Nade are both much more tactical and versatile in a round than any of the other abilities I just mentioned... sometimes. You could micro everything perfectly and get sick plays with them, or you could just dump both abilities onto the tank off cooldown the second he's in sight of your team. Guess which one usually gets more value, especially in early OW2 before more new heroes got released lol.
Two of the most impactful and powerful abilities in the entire game being on one character, who is only really balanced by the fact that she has no mobility, is not okay, and has never been okay, especially for tank players. She completely changes how you play the role whenever she's in the round, and disables 2 entire heroes from being played (Roadhog and Mauga) when she is being played.
So many potential tank players were likely turned away from the role, causing another tank player number crisis, because of this one hero. We would likely have a lot more tank players today if she was reworked going into OW2. But since she's a fan favorite, she never was, and with hero bans, likely never will be. Just sucks to think about.
