After moving back to iOS (used iPhone 8 before, now on iPhone 17 Pro) after almost a decade on pixels, I finally understand why I still prefer Android.
Keyboard experience( I guess I can write thesis on this)
-Not even talking about Gboard’s insane voice typing.
-
Autocorrect feels smarter.
-
Number row always present.
-
Comma and full stop easily accessible on main keyboard.
-
Better next-word suggestions.(iOS actually gives me wrong suggestion even incorrect spelling to the right words).
-
Built-in clipboard is super useful. Actually game changer.
-
Keyboard layout doesn’t randomly change (Safari adding a full stop key ruins muscle memory).
-Easy cursor control and text selection. Dedicated back button makes editing smoother
-That tiny “hide keyboard” arrow on Gboard is actually useful.
Universal back gesture
Swipe from either side in any app. No need to look for an “X” button. It just works everywhere.
Auto-rotate toggle That small floating rotate icon is super convenient.
Quick toggles with haptic feedback
-Small detail, but Android’s feedback makes it feel more responsive and satisfying.
System-wide ad blocking
-Private DNS = block ads across apps.
-Paying $1000+ and still seeing ads everywhere feels wrong.
Fingerprint sensor
-In-display fingerprint feels faster and more convenient.
- Face ID sometimes feels slow or angle-dependent.
Long press on apps gives all the options and no need to go to settings page for everything
What iOS does well
Multi-selecting and moving apps on the home screen is smooth.
Focus modes with different home screens are nicely implemented.
Lock screen customization is actually very good and more deeper compare to pixels.
