Is it worth it?
Hello everyone! I am hoping to get some advice for my work situation.
Currently, I work a position that is fairly comfortable and suits my life style well. I am good at my job and have become someone my management personnel regularly reach out to with questions or requests, which are usually within the scope of my job and are simple enough.
Recently, they have introduced an additional 'Specialist' position within my department, which my lead and supervisor have both reached out to me regarding, more or less confirming that if I submit an application for it, I would be approved.
This new position comes with new responsibilities, a minor schedule change, and much more social interaction than I am used to (such as calling clients, directors, account executives, attending management meetings and attending training meetings for new hires), for about $1.50 more an hour than I currently make.
I'm hesitant to accept this new position because I am already quite comfortable where I am, however I know that comfortability in the workforce is seen as complacency and would likely single me out as someone who is a unambitious. Additionally, I don't feel the $1.50 is worth the extra responsibilities.
Am I just being complacent? I like where I am now and dont want to ruin a good thing I have, but I also know I may be shooting myself in the foot.
If additional context is needed, I work in laboratory medicine, I am 27F and have worked with this company for 7 years, this department specifically for 2.
Any advice is appreciated!
