Need advice as 3rd year Med student

Career Advice

I'm a current third year DO med student who is extremely interested in pursuing Neurology. Currently I am in the process of applying for elective rotations for the 4th year. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or recommendations for programs I should consider for a better shot of getting accepted for residency application interviews.

For context, I failed my first attempt for COMLEX 1 but passed on the second. I'm also debating if I should take Step 1 in addition to my plan of taking COMLEX 2 and Step 2.

Does anyone know any good neuro programs that I'd stand a chance in? I'm based in NYC and if possible, I'd like to continue staying here to be near my family. Also if anyone knows neuro programs that allow for physician sponsored elective rotations in that area, I'd be really interested.

My whole life, I've only seen myself becoming a neurologist, and I'd like to make sure I put in as much effort as possible into making it happen. I'd appreciate any advice, recommendations, and suggestions you have to offer!
