So, when I was young and stupid I got my belly pierced by a very NOT reputable piercer in my tiny town and it rejected and I took it out to heal and got it repierced a few months after (not long enough I realize now) and it didn’t go well either. The last time I had it pierced was in the beginning of 2023. Since being pregnant the majority of 2024 and healing from that, my belly button healed and softened, and my scar tissue actually felt like it had moved. A week ago I got my belly repierced after thinking about it (and longing for it) for a while. I believe the piercer (a different and more reputable one) did a great job, however I’m feeling pretty concerned about the amount of redness and swelling I’m having. I’ve been using saline wash 1-2 times a day and drying with gauze or paper towel. I did forget to tell my piercer about wanting a titanium bar, so I believe it’s surgical steel jewelry, which I’ve only had an issue with in my vertical labret. I’ve been thinking of going to get it switched but I think it’s still early. Basically I’m just asking for reassurance, advice or opinions! It’s 1 week and 1 day old, a regular navel bar probably surgical steel, I believe internally threaded, it’s not been downsized or changed, I use target brand saline wound wash 1 or 2 times daily, the only “trauma” it has is being rubbed my my t shirts occasionally, I sleep on my side.
