DR7 & U7 Pro
I am fairly new to networking, but I really like Ubiquiti products. I recently went to my local Micro Center and purchased the Dream Router 7 and U7 Pro access point bundle. It took me about two days to run an Ethernet cable from my basement to the second floor, where I mounted the access point on the ceiling.
After everything was connected, I realized that the PoE port on the Dream Router 7 only supports standard PoE, not PoE+. Unfortunately, the U7 Pro requires PoE+. This made me question why Micro Center would bundle an access point that is not fully compatible with the Dream Router 7.
I understand that I could purchase a PoE+ injector, but that would mean additional cables and another device on my countertop. I was aiming for a clean, minimal setup. I also looked into the Switch Ultra, which offers seven PoE+ ports and seemed like a good option in case I decide to add another access point in the future. However, I then realized that the switch itself requires PoE++ to power it, which brings me back to needing an injector anyway.
At this point, I am looking for advice on the best way to power my U7 Pro access point while keeping my setup as clean as possible. It feels frustrating that this bundle appears to push consumers into purchasing additional equipment. Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
