AITAH for being upset that my friends (30-37, F&M) cut me off for being single?
I have two friends that basically come as a packaged pair with their husbands. "Annie" 30F and "Frank" 35M plus "Chrissy" 29F & "Tom" 37M.
background wise, I've (29F) known Annie and Chrissy since before they were married, attended their weddings, been there for major life events... you get the picture.
Me personally, I've had terrible experiences in relationships- My first boyfriend ghosted me via text after 3 years together. It took another 3 years in therapy to accept it was an abusive relationship. Then when I started dating again, met someone, fell for them, they died very unexpectedly. I've basically sworn off romantic relationships because of these experiences (I honestly haven't had great experiences platonically either).
This all starts pretty out of the blue when I was at Annie's hour as a group get together with all people mentioned. Everything was fine and we were all joking/eating dinner- having a normal night until Annie started pushing asking when I was going to be signing up for a dating site.
Both Annie and Chrissy have asked this in passing before, I usually have the same reply- I am just not interested in it, I would sign up to make friends, but I have no interest in dating. No big deal, it was dropped we moved on.
This time was different- Annie was really pushing saying that I should definitely sign up for a dating site and that I can't just "die to dying alone". It got to a point in the conversation that it was really obvious Annie wasn't letting it go and she kept shooting weird looks to Chrissy. So I asked what's up?
The jist of what was said that Annie and Chrissy felt that I couldn't be apart of the friend group if I was single. I throw of the "vibe" and it's "weird" that I am still single.
You can imagine how well that went in leaving Annie's. There were some raised voices and harsh things said-- the only person who was silent and looked uncomfortable, was Tom.
Most of my other friends have been supportive in this saying that they are jerks- one said that theyustve thought I'd move in on their husbands (something I would never do since I'm a child of divorce because of cheating).
I am pissed but I don't know if I am over reacting? We've been friends at least 7-8+ years doesn't that count?
