Question about chrome windows trim

I just bought a 2017 Limited, and somebody put some gaudy ass chrome smoker guards and a chrome thing over the black part between the doors. It's dark now so I can't go look at it, but if anybody's put one on, is that just like a double sided taped thing or what? If I can I want to take it off without messing up the black stuff. And the smoker guards aren't the normal ones that go over the whole window, it looks like they go up in it so are those still double sided tape?
