Unsharing locations with old friends
I wish it was more normalized to stop sharing locations once you’re no longer “close” friends with someone. I unshared locations (removed them on find my friends) with my former high school bff. We hadn’t been friends or talked for like 3 years and i finally just pulled the plug bc it didn’t make sense. Now im getting ready to do the same to this girl I met after college, who I haven’t spoken to in 7 months, and before that we hadn’t spoken in a year. Not to mention she forgot my birthday the same year we went on a birthday trip for her. I was still in school but made sure to pinch and pull where i could, even though i didn’t have it, to show up for her. That was also the year i deleted instagram and only 2 of my friends remembered my birthday. I was hurt because i can understand how not being on social media can cause people to forget birthdays, but it was the fact that we were close, or at least i thought. It was also her other friends birthday the week before and she had mentioned prior that since our birthdays (her other friend and mine) are close together, she’d try her best to show up for both of us. Her friend also lives in the same state as me. When it came time to discuss my birthday plans, she said shed unfortunately be leaving town (after already being here from her other friends celebration) on my birthday. So she definitely knew. And i know she knew because ever since, we haven’t been the same and barely talked again. Hence why, i think its time to just pull the plug. This was super long im sorry but i just hate that I feel guilty about this simple thing. I would like to think ive healed from this but seeing her location on the map every time i go into find my friends just retriggers me all over again.
