Is this normal? Driver refused payment & called police after running out of petrol
During trip Uber vehicle ran out of petrol Middle of RingRoad and driver asked us to wait until he refueled. We ended up waiting for around 20–30 minutes while the fare kept increasing.
When we questioned this driver raised his voice and threatened us. I told him we would contact customer support to understand why price had increased. but he still refused to listen, I contacted the safety support team and explained issue and driver did not listen to safety team either.
Despite everything, he insisted that I pay the full increased fare. I agreed based on the safety team’s confirmation. But even then driver refused to accept payment. Driver contacted police and complained, saying he would only accept payment once police arrived.
This behavior was extremely disturbing, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. It caused us a lot of stress and embarrassment in front of nearby residents, leading to a loss of dignity and respect.
I am posting this to ask: has anyone else experienced something like this, and what action should I take next?
