The app on iPad does not update when I play on my android

I play mainly on my iPad but sometimes play on my android phone using the same account if my iPad isn’t available or is charging. But I notice when ever I play on my phone and I advance in scenes when I go back to my iPad it does pick up where I left off on my android phone it sets me back. But my phone will sync with wherever I left off on the iPad. Is this normal? It’s a little frustrating.
