Export your watch/ed lists, feed it to A.I. and ask it to recommend a movie! What did it recommend? Was it a 5 star movie?
First, head to Letterboxd to export your data. It will export as a .zip full of .csv files. You can navigate to Settings (https://letterboxd.com/settings/) then scroll to the bottom and you'll see a button that says: Export Your Data - click that.
After downloading, head to an AI of your choice (I used Claude) and upload at least:
- watched.csv
- watchlist.csv
- ratings.csv
But if you want a more complete picture, add:
- diary.csv
- reviews.csv
- comments.csv
- and any other lists you want to share
Then, ask it to review your data and make a recommendation!
Here's the prompt I gave it:
>Review my watched movies, look at my watched list, pay attention to my recently watched movies and identify the kick that I'm on, and recommend me a movie to watch tonight.
I had to get through a couple of bad recommendations because at first I gave it old data and then it failed to check my actual watch/ed lists correctly, but eventually it had accurate data and recommended I watch:
### The Treasure of the Sierra Madre!
So that's what I'm about to watch! What did it recommend for you? If you watched it, what did you think? Was it a 5 star recommendation?
I'll let you know what I thought of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre in the comments tomorrow.
