I've purchased from them for over a year and they're turning to the darkside of Whatnot.

I sent this to a whatnot seller:

The cable is cut on one end and will not charge the host says bid with confidence message them first with any issues but they will not take care of issues at their level its all ive been recived is not as pictured especially when doing a prebid.

Hey, we're very sorry to hear about your experience. After reviewing your order, it appears that the item was listed in as-is / for parts condition, which means it may be incomplete, used, or not fully functional. These listings are typically intended for repair or parts use and are sold without guarantees. For this reason, we’re unable to accept a return. We appreciate your understanding. Should you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us. Take care and stay safe!

Under Whatnot’s Buyer Protection Policy, a seller’s personal "sold as-is" or "all sales final" disclaimer does not override the platform's requirement that items must match their description and be functional (unless explicitly described as broken).

Here is why you are still entitled to a refund:

1. "Not as Described" Overrules "As-Is"

Whatnot’s policy explicitly covers items that are defective, damaged, or do not match the listing. A "cut cable" is a significant defect. If the seller didn't disclose that the cable was cut during the auction or in the item description, the item is "Not as Described."

2. The "Unboxed" Excuse Doesn't Work

Sellers are responsible for the condition of the items they sell. If they chose to sell an item without unboxing it to verify its condition, they took the risk—not you. Whatnot policy states:

Sellers are responsible for ensuring the item matches the condition, size, and description represented.

"Blind" or "Unboxed" selling does not exempt them from the "Not as Described" rule. If it's broken, they are liable for the refund.

3. Pre-bid Protection

Since you mentioned this was a pre-bid, you have even stronger grounds. You bid based on the expectation of a working item. If the host says "bid with confidence," they are verbally guaranteeing the quality. Failing to honor that is a violation of Whatnot’s Community Guidelines regarding honest selling.
