Best recommendations for cushiony trail runners?
I do quite a bit of pavement running at the moment but want to start trail running a bit more in the future. I currently have the Saucony Hurricanes and LOVE them. They’re stability shoes with a good 6 mm drop and quite a bit of cushioning so even at 6-8 miles, my feet don’t really hurt.
I really enjoy hiking and backpacking. I’ve always struggled to find a good hiking boot and want to move to some trail shoes that have a good enough tread for occasional hiking and trail running. I don’t do either very often (maybe 1-2 times a month) so I’m not concerned wear and tear. I mainly want something to just keep me from slipping constantly on the trail.
I bought an older model pair of the Saucony Peregrines and the tread is great, but it kind of feels like I’m walking on concrete. There’s not really any cushion whatsoever. Is this normal for trail runners? Is there a decent trail running shoe with moderate drop and some cushioning? I’ve tried hokas in the past and was not a fan, but I’m open to many other options. I plan to go to my shoe store soon but want to have a few different ideas in mind to check out before I go since no one in the store has any experience with trail runners.
