Have you offered to collaborate?
I’m relatively new here, so forgive me if this idea has been previously explored: have you guys proposed collaborative efforts with Kimberly? In other words, what if she were able to gradually transition her social media into something that posted ELI5 explanations of real autism research? This could allow her to continue being the face of autism research while solving our concerns about scientific inaccuracies. Am I just dreaming?
Even if she previously refused such an idea, I feel like it would be reasonable for us to propose it again before we fully launch our own social media response to her work.
Let me know what you think of the following email:
Subject: A Collaborative Idea for Strengthening Your Scientific Outreach
Dear Ms. Kimberly Kitzerow,
We’re reaching out to propose a collaborative effort between you, as an autism influencer, and the group of scientists that has been reviewing your work at Reddit.
You have clearly built a substantial audience of families and individuals who are eager to understand autism at a biological level. That is no small achievement. Many people are hungry for scientific explanations, and your platform has given them a sense of engagement with research that they might not otherwise access.
That said, autism research is complex, nuanced, and often difficult to interpret outside of academic settings. Many well-intentioned online discussions unintentionally blur the distinction between established findings, emerging hypotheses, and speculative models. We believe there is tremendous potential to help your audience better understand how scientific research actually works — what is strongly supported, what is still under investigation, and how to evaluate claims responsibly.
We would like to propose a collaborative effort focused on strengthening the scientific clarity of the material presented to your followers.
You would continue to be the face of your accounts, while we would assist with drafting scripts, reviewing scientific language, and ensuring that claims are carefully aligned with existing literature.
Our intention is not to dilute your voice, but to help elevate the scientific rigor behind it. Clear, well-supported explanations would strengthen your credibility, protect your audience from misunderstanding complex research, and model responsible scientific communication.
We genuinely believe that collaboration could benefit everyone involved…especially the families seeking clarity.
If this idea resonates with you, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss next steps and outline a pilot series together.
Warmly and respectfully,
The Kimberly Kitzerow Review Team
