New seedling starter trays smell like chemicals

I got a 10 pack of the 1020 trays for holding the colored 2.5 inch pots that they sell at Bootstrap farmer. I got that brand for both the pots and the trays plus the microgreens tray to hold water. The holder trays for the pots smell strong like chemical or fertilizer smell but nothing else does. It was to the point they had to go into the garage.

I am using one and I washed it front and back with hand dish wash liquid and it seems to have helped but there is still a smell. Now I have some vegetable seeds in to sprout and am a little uneasy about it. I don't want anything bad getting into the soil from the tray that holds the pots sitting in a little water. It's supposed to be a very good brand though I thought. Anything to be concerned about?
