I met 'apostle' Dale G. Renlund, here is the outline of his talk.
Today was the stake conference with the so-called apostle Dale Renlund, in which he gave the last talk. He seemed be interested in the other talks. He either looked at the speaker or wrote things down in his notebook.
At the start of the speech he gave us greetings from Oaks, he told that the prophet is thankful for the stake president and the members.
He suddenly mentions that he is not that special, but Christ is.
But after that the interesting part begins. He begins to tell the story of the Lion King. He asks the primary children to stand up and wave. He gives them permission to hit the older people who do it. The children are asked by him what the name of prince of the Lion King is. After some of them answer, he starts to compare how Simba forgot that he was a prince. Just like people forgot they are a child of god, their divine essence and their place in the plan of salvation.
The second part of his speech is about the truth of Jesus Christ. He tells the example of his daughter when she was a child and didn’t want to go sleep. She constantly makes up excuses for it and eventually ask for a snack. When she is refused this, she points Mosiah 4:14:
And ye will not suffer your children that they go hungry
He admits that if he did knew the scriptures better (I guess at that time), he knew that he was from the speech of King Benjamin, who testified of Jesus. He goes on how that those who follow the covenant path will be blessed and receive the Holy Ghost. He then also testified on the importance of the sacrament. He mentions Rwanda where the Church apparently gathered in building that was not meant for public events (why didn’t they follow the law?) and thus was closed. He then describes the opening as a miracle, and according to him the ward people were very glad they could have a sacrament meeting again. He wished he could be so happy about the first hour (who would?).
The third part of his speech is about the so-called restoration. He remembers when he was small boy in Sweden, his ward were visited by the mission president. He tells everyone to read the BoM and pray about it. Renlund did it and felt warmth. That’s is why he gained as testimony. Then he cites the foreword of it. He then also asks the children to pray for confirmation.
The final part is about that God doesn’t require perfection and Jesus paid for all our sins. He shows the Chinese sign language for forgiveness. Which is apparently a hand who hits another hand. In an effort to make a joke, he then hits his head.
Suddenly the Lion King is mentioned again. He tells that Simba forgets that he is an heir to the throne, like people often forget that they are an heir to the Kingdom of God.
Again he recollects his youth, he tells about his father who was an illegal immigrant from Finland to Sweden and later moves to the US to get endowed (I wonder what his opinion on ICE is). According to his son, he didn’t even learn much English. He then compares to Monson, who instead of his father got callings with priesthood keys (The comparison is very strange because Monson has nothing in common with Renlund’s dad).
He concludes the talk with his testimony of the Church (of course) and blessed everyone attending and their family.
