Not being in a romantic relationship in college/before marriage is totally normal, or I am rationalising ?
I realised it when I was thinking about something...
My thought process: My parents are orthodoxical, they won't allow inter-caste marriage. If I want to, I can just go against them like a lot of people are doing these days, and marry someone I love, that would cost me my relationship with my parents and family. My parents are not bad in the sense how they treat me, they love me, they have done so much for me going out of their way. And their thinking is in not really invalid, there is a real heavy societal cost that comes with inter-caste marriage. And I can love the person I marry. So it might be a better option to have arranged marriage, it can keep everyone happy.
But I am still losing something, I don't get to have the college romance. I can go into a short term relationship, but that isn't my thing.
But isn't it totally normal to not have a romantic relationship in college, I am going to spend majority of my life with my partner anyway, why not spend some with myself. Now that I think about it, it really is a movie and culture thing, that makes me feel I am loosing something, while it is totally normal. Isn't it ?
Still I have a slight feeling that I am compromising, I guess being the more understanding part of a relationship does come with some compromises.
What if I find a girl of my caste, that I also happen to like....feels more like I am choosing to love...but we can choose to love someone, love can be intentionally cultivated, I just need to find a girls, that meet my requirements, looks are not primary, good character and personality, understanding and emotionally intelligent will be fine.
Ohh..but I don't think, the probability of me stumbling upon someone like that and also they liking me back, is preety rare.
