Stingy DM made us watch as they killed the gods (part 1 of ?)
I had a long term group I used to play with. We'd meet once a week to game and swap out DMs each campaign. Usually that meant swapping between me and one other person, but one time another player who I'll call Jamie. (Not their real name).
Game edition: 3.0 Setting: A home brew high fantasy world with techno magic based off of Final Fantasy. The Church was a powerful beuracracy that oversaw a huge empire.
Characters: Myself: an Order of the Bow Iniate who was part of the church guard, eventually becoming their top "paladin" My wife: a sorceress Other DM: rogue Other player: fighter DMPC :powerful multi class wizard/cleric who was the brother of my wife's sorcerer character.
We started at level 3 and things went okay until about level 12. There were some small issues, the most noted being a lack of treasure. By level 8 we had gained about 1000 gold for the party and a few one shot magic items like potions and scrolls.
As the story went on, we worked for the Church a lot. Most of our adventures were supported by the Church or at least the local branch. My character went from a guard to a zealot true believer.
When we reached 12th level, my character was named an Inquisitor and given a bow that was "the most powerful magic weapon the church had.". It was a plus 2 long bow.
Also it was revealed that my wife's character was the key to a god killing weapon that her brother was going to use to literally do just that. So without hesitation, my character turned around and killed my wife's character. The rest of the party, rightfully, put an end to my character and then convinced the church to resurrect both the characters.
I immediately attempted to murder her again.
This time they stopped me before I could and killed my character again. They were talking about bringing him back again and I had to explain to them that I was just going to keep doing that, and that I should make a new character.
(This is getting longer than I meant it to be, so there will be a part 2)
