Positive for Anti-Zinc Transporter 8
Hello! I was recently diagnosed as type 2 back in September and have been on Metformin since. My a1c has dropped significantly from 8.3 to 6.2 and I’m consistently in the 90s for glucose readings. My doctor decided to run additional tests due to my age (38) and my anti-zinc transporter 8 was at 17 (normal is <15) She said I am responding very well to current therapy but that this test result could mean I have type 1 instead of type 2 and that she will run additional antibody tests next time I’m in. Has anyone had any experience with this? I was just getting over the initial shock and anxiousness of having type 2 and feeling better because it seems to be controlled with medication but now the thought of having type 1 and having to be on insulin is terrifying.
