Are the bolts for attraction or friendship as well?

Hello!

I'm trying to give my Sims more "meaningful" friendships instead of talking to anyone (even though career progress requires you to max out friends) and since I cannot check the other Sims personality traits I was wondering if the bolts were a good indicator or if they only measure attraction like (black hair, fit, swimwear etc)
