I built an AI study tool because NotebookLM couldn’t read my slides before an exam

Resources

Long story short — I was cramming the night before an exam, uploaded my lecture slides to NotebookLM, and it completely missed half the content because the slides were image-heavy. The explanations it gave were generic. I couldn’t trust it.

I looked for something better and couldn’t find it. So I spent the next several months building it myself.

Synapse processes your actual uploaded lecture slides — including images — using OCR, indexes them page by page, generates MCQs that link back to the exact source page, and tracks which concepts you’re likely to forget based on your rotation schedule. It’s not a chatbot with a medical skin on it. It was built specifically around how med students actually study.

It’s free right now. I’m looking for honest feedback from students who actually use it — what works, what doesn’t, what’s missing.

If you want to try it: synapse-app.io
