Contact lens fragment?

I removed my contacts in very low lighting last night. At the time when I tried to take my contact out I thought it had come out then sort of sucked back in. So I tried to get the contact out again. I was fishing around and pinching my eye ball assuming my contact was in there.

After a while I realised it had actually split and part of it was on my hand.

I thought maybe part of it was still in my eye so fished around more.

I never found anything and now I can’t decide if my eye feels sore and gritty because I damaged my eye fishing around or because a fragment is still in there. Advice?
