how serious is this cloud 3 material issue?

been using a pair of the wired cloud 3 headset everyday for a year and a half now and only replaced the ear cushions 7 months ago because they get sticky and uncomfortable when i sweat. is there really anything to be worried about? they even sent me a new cloud 3 that's supposed to arrive later today after i opened a case about a faulty volume knob. should i stop using them for the time being?
