I think I asked the Gundam reddit my question wrong but I genuinely don't understand it?

hi so I'm quite upset because I really don't know what I did wrong when I had a real question that I needed help with to understand as an autistic person trying to enjoy the anime. I get if it's weird or maybe not how this one works but I'm going to just rewrite it word for word here so maybe someone who knows can offer me help/perspective.

hi I'm watching in the order this/similar Gundam subreddits suggested off a Google search; the origin then mobile suit Gundam (I'll add a pic if I can). I feel like I missed something between these two because I'm five episodes into mobile suit and don't care at all about Amuro. I don't get why we want him to win. I want Chars (Casval) to win so far. Am I somehow watching wrong despite what I had read? Am I illiterate to the story? Missing context somehow? I feel stupid because as things stand I really don't care about Amuro, his special Gundam, or anything to do with him. Casvals story from Origin makes sense to me and I want to see him win. Help me understand UC timeline at least a little from what I do know? Why is this better context to have before og mobile suits Gundam? I feel like I'm spending the series hating the mc so far. Is that the point? I just genuinely don't know how or if I'm supposed to root for Amuro.

I am autistic and listened to music through all of it so if it's maybe something in dialogue & music I missed that makes what's happening make a little more sense I do understand, but usually Crunchyroll is good at adding text and I can interpret decently well by myself. I completely understand if subtext went over my head but I'd like help to truly understand and enjoy Amuro in mobile suits Gundam.

btw I'm sorry if I'm somehow missing something but this is how I was told to watch off Google as per the reddit top suggestion: The Origin, Mobile Suits Gundam, Zeta, ZZ, Chars counterattack, unicorn, F91, and victory.

I'd really appreciate some help in understanding what's going on, it wasn't necessarily a big shift considering it's mostly characters I knew from Origin but it's more so why should I care about anything to do with Amuro? I don't see why Casval is suddenly the bad guy? Is Amuro not against the exact same people as Casval or did something get lost in translation for me? I want to keep watching but I don't get this and if I continue not understand I'll probably just give up, which I'd rather not do.

Do I just trust the process and keep watching anyway? I'm usually not a fan of doing that after already putting 3 hours into a series but if it's really worth it like everyone tells me Gundam is then I'd just like to get what's going on if I'm missing something before continuing. I loved Origin and I'd like to love the rest of the Gundam universe but it's hard when it feels like so much is instantly going over my head by simply starting mobile suits after it.

I know this is a bit of a long post for something so silly but I just want to understand what's happening and I'm not always good with small details so I'd really appreciate any sort of help since I do want to keep watching Gundam. I really don't mind some spoilers since this is so old if it can help in some way, but I don't want to magically ruin the entire UC timeline for myself. Someone please help me make sense of what I've been watching?
