Extra skill points

It seems as though you can recover the extra skill points from the prior expedition if you chose not to do that, with 300k per point - but where is that indicated in the game? I’ve just hit 3.3m and expected to see it show me 6 skill points, but it doesn’t? Want to make sure I’m not wasting effort or missing something!
