Re4 remake, bella sisters or El gigante (possible spoiler)

Okay so here's another weird one (for me), now I could have swore when I played this upon release you were still able to fight both bosses, for me playing today it only gives me the option to fight the Bella sisters. Everywhere I read online it says you can go back but I can't find the path to fight El gigante. Is this another one where I'm remembering wrong or did they take this out? Why after 2 years I'm going back to this game and everything seems just a little different. Did Re4r get an update that changed some things about this game?
