Just received my Aer CPP 2 Xpac - Need some help with the sternum strap

This is my first Aer product and I'm thoroughly impressed. It's basically built for life. The zippers are a bit stiff but I'm sure they'll loosen up over time. The biggest issue I have is the magnetic sternum strap.

1. How do I unlatch the clip once it's attached. I'm practically using brute force now and I'm sure I'm not doing it right.

2. In the event I want to completely remove the sternum strap, can I do it? And how would I do it? It seems to be built in.

Tried finding YouTube videos for both the above question but seems like nothing exists. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.
