April vacation trip

Never been to Killington before. What's it like in mid-late April (school vacation 4/18ish onward)? Mobbed with families? Is it too early to tell what trails will be open? I always see that the resort is open into May, but at that point it's only intermediate and expert terrain. I'm going with my wife and kids and we're all blue/green novices (Waterville, Bretton Woods, Wachusett). The idea of renting a ski-in / ski-out slopeside condo sounds really fun, but I read there is only one section of the mountain that has that arrangement. Is that a part of the mountain that closes earlier in the season?
